The Varsity Men's Trophy is a fine english pewter tankard from the Sheffield Mint. The trophy is presented annually to the male student-athlete who has brought the most credit to the rowing club in the past season by reason of his athletic achievements at McGill, as decided by the rowing club's coaches.

The trophy itself was originally awarded to the winning McGill crew at the 1988 Head of the Welland Regatta, and was subequently donated to the rowing club by Henry Hering in October 2005
