W.E. Clarke Trophy

W.E. Clarke Trophy

The W. E. Clarke Trophy is an antique trophy won by Wallace Clarke, a McGill medical student, in 1869 at the Styles Regatta in Philadelphia. It represents one of the earliest trophies won by a McGill student in an athletic competition. The trophy is presented annually to the rowing club's best performing crew of the season, as decided by the Head Coach. The trophy was first awarded in 2005.

The trophy was donated to the club in 2004 by long-time Friend of McGill Rowing supporter and alumnus Rob Baxter, who received it from D. Lorne Gales, the founder of the McGill Development Office and a member of the original McGill University Rowing Club, circa 1930.
